Its been a long time i have posted any recipes on my blog..i just got busy with my work. Even though I started the blog and I am trying out new recipes every day, I couldn't post most of them.
Now i make sure i post every new recipe i try out without fail. I have tried many dishes, but never had the confidence to try out sweets. I always thought that they are never my cup of tea. But once i saw many recipes on sweets,i decided to give a try. Thought of making a sweet today. So started with Rava Kesari (Kesari bath). The A2B Restaurants in Bangalore serves Kesari bath and i have seen most of my friends having them early morning.Even my husband likes this sweet.Tried for the first time and I should say it came out very good..My entire family liked and shared with one of our friend also. Thanks to UshaNandini for such a good recipe.Sending this to Nivedita's "CELEBRATE SWEETS~HALWA" event. Hope I am not too late for the event

Sugar : 1-1.5 cup (If u want it to be very sweet, use 1.5 cups ,I used a little more than 1 cup and it came out be very sweet)
Hot Water : 2.5 cups
Warm milk : 1/4 cup
Ghee : 1.5 tspn for frying +2.5 tbspn
Green Cardamom : 2 ( grounded)
Cashewnuts : 10
Raisins : 10
Saffron food color: 2-3 pinches
Add 1/2 tspn ghee and fry cashew nuts and Raisins.Keep separate
Heat 1 tspn ghee in a non stick kadai and add the Rava.
Fry the Rava in low flame for 4-5 minutes. Make sure the color of Rava doesn't change to brown
Mix the food color in hot water and pour the hot water to the roasted Rava.
Stir well and make sure that no lumps are found.Keep stirring and make sure the Rava is cooked.Do not over cook else it will turn out to be Upma
Add the sugar and stir.Once the sugar is completely dissolved Add the ghee and mix well.
Now add the warm milk with ground cardamom, roasted cashew, raisins and mix well
When the Kesari starts leaving the edges of the Kadai, remove the heat.
Apply 1/2 tspn ghee to a flat vessel and transfer the contents to it and allow it to cool.
Once its cool, cut it into the required shape.
